Anshel Levi's sixteenth-century work has survived in a manuscript in his own handwriting. Its first part is a translation and commentary on the Chapters of the Fathers in Yiddish. The commentary is interpolated with a medley of rabbinical legends, fables and folk tales, reminiscent of popular midrashim like the Ts'enah uR'enah. The second part contains a supplementary collection of 28 stories.
