Jolley|This beautiful book is written by Michiko Ishimure, who has been called the Rachel Carson of Japan due to her concern for the environment, and her writings have been said to have started the environmental movement in Japan. I am not sure how many of her writings have been translated into English, but Bruce Allen did a very good job translati| |A remarkable text of mythopoetic quality―with a noh flavor―that presents much of the ancient lore of Japan and the lore of the spirit world―and is in a way a kind of myth-drama, not a novel.
