In the book there is a map, that explains the geography of the Malian empire, there are also explanations in the back of the book of names, places, african terms etc... But what makes this book more fascinating is the descr|About the Author|Born in Guinea, author and playwright Djibril Tamsir Niane is a descendant of griots - African oral historians/storytellers. He translated Sundita, as told by the griot Djeli Mama dou Kouyate, into French under the title Soundjata ou Epoque Mand
